Natgeo was audience leader
EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE

For second consecutive month, NatGeo was audience leader in Latin America. Once more, it was number 1 on documentaries in august and september.
  • August and September´s audience figures have positioned Nat Geo as channel #1 on documentaries during primetime (8 pm – 12 am), Pan-Regional level, on advertisers´ most sought-after demography, P18+ with Pay TV.
  • Original productions like “PROPHECIES” (Thursdays, 10pm) and “OBSESSION” (Wednesday, 10pm) consolidate the channel´s leadership position.


During August and September, Nat Geo was the documentary channel #1 on primetime (8 pm – 12 am) on PAN 9 (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Central America) with a 0.27 rating at P18+ households with Pay TV [1].

Colombia showed an excellent performance, where Nat Geo stayed as documentary channel #1 with 0.44 rating points on P18+ [12]; in Central America with 0.33 points [3], in Chile with 0.21 points [4] and in Argentina with 0.14 points [5].

During September, on prime time (8 pm – 12 am) Nat Geo registered an 8% increase in ratings compared with the same period of the previous month (6). This was also showed in Central America and Mexico where the signal showed a 16% and 13% growth respectively (7), and in Argentina and Colombia as well, both reflecting a 7% growth (8).

We must highlight the performance of “Prophecies”, an original production that investigates different predictions about the world. During the first episode emission, Nat Geo was the leader documentary channel and Pay TV leader in Colombia and Mexico registering 1.89 and 1.08 points respectively on P18+HM [9]. While in Argentina it reached 1.23 points [10] and in Central America 0.66 (11) on the same demography at Pay TV households, which positioned Nat Geo as the leader documentary channel among these markets.

On the other hand, the first emission of another original production: “Obsession”, positioned Nat Geo as the documentary channel leader with 3.20 points in Colombia (12), 1.15 points in Mexico (13), 1.05 in Central America (14), 0.75 in Peru (15), 0.40 in Argentina (16) and 0.35 in Chile (17). Besides, simultaneously, Nat Geo was channel #1 of Pay Television in Mexico, Colombia and Central America (18). Obsession broadcasts every Wednesday at 10 pm on Nat Geo.
